The Spanish Union of Airline Pilots (Sepla), the Official College of Commercial Aviation Pilots (COPAC), and Global Training Aviation (GTA) as organizers, with Loreto Inversiones as a sponsor, presented the accrediting awards for the 2nd edition of the Carlos Salas Scholarships to eight young pilots on Tuesday, October 24th. In this second edition, the number of scholarships has been increased from two to eight.

The scholarships aim to cover the majority of the training course chosen by the winners (A-320, B-727, or ATR72) with the goal of overcoming the economic barriers posed by the cost of these qualifying courses to access a job position in the cockpit of a commercial airplane and, consequently, to start a professional career.

The Gold Scholarships were awarded to David Muñoz García, Eder Muñoz Blanco, and Carlos Goñi Serret, while the Silver Scholarships went to Ana Serrot Geminelli, Jerónimo Suria Baixauli, Aina Clofent Mas, Mohammed Ighaddouran El Yousefy, and Eberth Leuzzi Ore.

Additionally, this aims to highlight a structural problem regarding access to the profession in Spain, a country where not a single euro of public support reaches any phase of pilot training. The three entities will continue to advocate for a system of public aid that promotes equal opportunities, allowing young pilots to access flight decks without incurring unreasonable debts to airlines or financial institutions.
